Applying neurodiversity to software quality: what autistic people can bring to the field
This program is tentative and subject to change.
For more than 20 years, various organizations have focused on integrating autistic individuals into their teams in areas such as requirements analysis, programming, software testing, data analysis, and more. The underlying reason: many of these individuals stand out for their attention to detail, perseverance, honesty, ability to detect patterns, patience in performing complex yet repetitive tasks, etc. The results have been very positive, both in terms of performance and social impact. At the same time, organizations that have integrated the concept of “neurodiversity” into their teams and have trained themselves on how to integrate autistic people and other similar conditions, have seen additional results: managers developing better people management skills, other team members revealing their autistic condition or recognizing improvements in the work environment, greater talent retention and innovation, etc. In this session, we want to showcase some examples of all of this and offer some best practices ideas that can inspire all kinds of organizations to become neuroinclusive.
Francesc Sistach is the Global CEO of Specialisterne, and organization devoted to the inclusion of neurodiversity in the labor market and that has offices in 13 countries and operates worldwide.
